Orientations

Orientation and Registration

It is important for us at Little People's Workshop to ensure that you are comfortable with the decision you are making regarding the enrichment and care of your child. While we are able to answer questions via telephone, we prefer families to come in and view our facilities and consult with our facility directors on matters that are of a concern to you.

The initial visit can be arranged through an on-line appointment booking. This initial visit involves a tour of the facility you have pre-selected and an informal overview of the service that you are seeking for your child. You are welcome to being your child with you, or it is quite acceptable for you to come on your own for this initial inquiry period.

Once you have established that you are interested in registering, we will set up orientation sessions for your child to commence approximately 2 weeks prior to their start date.

Orientation Stages

Our orientation session is broken down into 3 stages:
The first stage, Stage A, involves a family member staying in the playroom with their child for the entire duration of the session (1.5 hours). Depending on the child's level of independence, they will move on to the next stage. Stage B, will allow for the parent to leave the playroom and remain within the childcare center. The final stage will only occur if the child is content and secure. Stage C, will allow for the parent to leave the building for one hour.

The orientation period may be complete in the three sessions, or may require a little more of the Stage A Orientation. The important thing to remember is that the initial orientation period allows children time to attach and feel secure with new people. It helps them to understand that you will always return and that this experience is to be a positive one for all involved.

Orientation sessions also allow time for parents to get to know their Childs Early Learning and Care provider and assists parents in ratifying their childcare choice.

If you are contemplating any childcare service for your child, please ensure that you have allotted ample time for your family to make a secure adjustment.

Orientation sessions B and C, will be booked after registration.
There is no fee charged for the Orientation Period.
